Ariel’s Summer Tuba-Time on Monday, July 3!

Concert 7:30 p.m. at City Park

Players will meet on the Ariel stage for rehearsal at 4:00 and perform in the Gallipolis City Park at 7:30 beside the historic Gallipolis Bandstand.

Summer Tuba-Time is an expansion of the nationwide Tubachristmas®, now in its 44rd year, due to the inspiration of Harvey Phillips. Norman Bewley, a one time professional colleague of Phillips, arranged all the Summer Tuba-Time music that includes such favorites as In the Good ‘Ole Summer Time, Take Me Out to the Ballgame, Down by the Riverside, When the Saints Go Marching In, Little Brown Jug and many more.

Jason Smith, Professor of Tuba at Ohio University and Jeannie Wilson are co-chairs of the event and Smith will be conducting the ensemble along with a few guest conductors.

Tuba-Time ensembles attract players from 8 to 80. The warm, golden sound of the tuba-euphonium choir has won over the ears and hearts of every audience. It is no wonder that Tuba-Time has become an established tradition in cities throughout the world.

Summer Tuba-Time is in conjunction with the Gallipolis River Recreation Festival, held every Independence Day holiday in the city park. There will be other entertainment before and after and plenty of festival food booths, crafters, and more, in the park all day July 3rd and 4th.

Musicians can pre-register by completing the form below.  There is no participant fee for this event.  Summer Tuba-Time music books are available for purchase for $20 at rehearsal (check, cash, or credit card). This event is free and open to the public.
