Jonathan Hawkins, a Point Pleasant, WV native, is a career touring guitarist/singer, multi-instrumentalist, and arranger. Recent credits include touring Broadway musicals Flashdance: The Musical 3rd National Tour, Woody Allen’s Bullets Over Broadway 1st National Tour, and Mamma Mia! Farewell Tour; performing in residency as a pit orchestra guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Vietgone at Studio Theatre, Washington, DC, Mamma Mia! at Little Theatre on the Square, Sullivan, IL, The All New Piano Men at Palace Theatre, Manchester, NH, Shrek, Les Miserables, Hands on a Hardbody at Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre, Grand Lake, CO; as well as local Musical Theatre productions Little Shop of Horrors at Raleigh Playhouse, Beckley, WV, Spring Awakening at ABC Players, Stuart’s Opera House, Nelsonville, OH, and Man of La Mancha at Ohio Valley Summer Theatre, Athens, OH; and as a production band member and featured soloist aboard luxury cruiselines for several seasons on the Princess Cruiselines. When at rest from travel, Jonathan performs regularly as a live and studio guitarist for local and regional performances/recordings including 2018’s Setting the Standard, Austin Morgan, Richmond, VA, and Acoustic AJ, AJ Clarke, and 2016’s The Low Beat, Bryce Duncan.
Outside of performing, Jonathan stays busy arranging and composing for commission, theatrical productions, and studio albums including 2018’s The Vietgone Collection, Studio Theatre, Washington, DC; 2016-2018 Gala Cabaret, Sweeney Todd, various arrangements, Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre, Grand Lake, CO, and 2015 The Long and Winding Road (select arrangements), Viking Cruiselines.
Jonathan has taught internationally in private and group settings onboard cruiselines, as well as to members of acting companies on Broadway touring productions. Any level or style, Jonathan’s goal is not only to teach to play the instrument, but to teach his students how to properly practice, visualize, and achieve musical and technical goals. Jonathan is a graduate of Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA. He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Performance on the Guitar, with emphasis on composition and audio production. While in school, Jonathan’s musical endeavors included composing music and sound design for virtual reality environments for historical and scientific education across American museums and schools (PublicVR, Jamaica Plain, MA), assisting live sound at the Boston Museum of Fine Art’s Summer Concert Series, composing and producing scores for independent films and video games (2014 – Footsteps; 2013 – Teatime for Tyranny; 2011 – Adultswim Games’ Girls Like Robots; 2011- Unacceptable).
